Jurij Dmitrijev zasvětil život rozkrývání zločinů stalinismu. Identifikoval přes 30 tisíc těl pohřbených v masových hrobech. Boj proti přepisování historie z něj ale udělal nežádoucí osobu, která má být sama vymazána z dějin.

Roku 1936 začal Stalin nemilosrdné čistky. Během dvou let bylo na různých místech Sovětského svazu popraveno na 700 000 lidí. Důkazy o masakrech měly navždy zůstat v archivech státních služeb. Historik Jurij Dmitrijev se je však rozhodl odkrýt, a díky jeho trpělivé práci se tisíce lidí dozvěděly, kde byli pohřbeni jejich blízcí. Pročesávání lesů s masovými hroby ale narazilo na odpor ruských autorit, Jurij byl obviněn z pedofilie a poslán do trestanecké kolonie. Film se ohlíží za událostmi vedoucími k jeho zatčení i za utajenými dějinami Ruska a Sovětského Svazu. Ukazuje se, že přinejmenším z hlediska mechanismů překrucování skutečnosti představuje období „velkého teroru“ stále živou historii.

Yuri Dmitriev devoted his life to exposing the crimes of Stalinism. He identified over 30,000 bodies buried in mass graves. But the fight against the rewriting of history made him an undesirable person who should himself be erased from history.

In 1936, Stalin began a merciless purge. Over two years, 700,000 people were executed in various parts of the Soviet Union. The evidence of the massacres was to remain forever in the archives of the civil services. However, historian Yuri Dmitriev decided to uncover them, and thanks to his patient work, thousands of people learned where their loved ones were buried. Combing the forests with mass graves, however, encountered resistance from the Russian authorities, Yuri was accused of pedophilia and sent to a penal colony. The film looks back at the events leading up to his arrest as well as the secret history of Russia and the Soviet Union. It turns out that, at least in terms of reality-warping mechanisms, the period of the "Great Terror" is still living history.
