One of the special events of this year will be a premiere of a long prepared and awaited movie „Milada“, which will be presented at the same day as it will enter the Czech cinemas. By the occasion of the presentation of course the filmmaker will not be missing, among others the director and producer David Mrnka. The movie takes place between 1937 and 1950 and is inspired by the life of JUDr. Milada Horáková, one of the exemplary victim of communistic despotism. A story of a courageous woman is shown who was fighting for the truth and democracy without being succumbed to conformism or to a fear of danger. During a fabricated trial she was convicted of alleged conspiracy and treason (that is how her uncompromising anti-communistic resistance was interpreted) and sentenced to death, as the only woman in the then Czechoslovakia. She was executed on 27 June 1950. The main character is played by internationally respected Israeli actor Ayelet Zurer and also the movie „Milada“ has international ambitions – to describe the life story of Milada Horaková not only in the Czech Republic and not only to a young audience.
