The imam Ibrahim’s family lives in the middle of the Bosnian mountains. When he is sentenced to two years in prison, for the first time in their lives his three sons can live according to their own ideas.

The family of the radical Salafist Ibrahim follows a strict regimen. The lives of his sons consist of prayers and tending to their sheep. Everything changes when the patriarch is charged with having contact with terrorists. Before going to prison, he gives each of his sons a task: Jabir is to find a job and provide for the family, Usama is to continue as a shepherd, and Uzeir, the youngest, is to complete his education. So far the brothers’ lives have been governed by responsibilities; now they must cope with their sudden freedom. Young Italian director Francesco Montagner has filmed an enchanting probe into the lives of young men on the verge of adulthood, torn between obedience and a natural desire for freedom.
